Neighbors Community Garden

Neighbors Community Garden is a garden for anyone who enjoys gardening or wants to give it a try. Anyone means we will not be discrimatory to any human being as long as they respect their neighbors at the garden. The property is being provided by Galt United Methodist Church as part of its service to the community.

Beds are Available

We have had a very successful summer!!
The gardeners grew tomatoes, cucumber, squach, melons and much more.

According to the USDA around 15 percent of the world's food is now grown in urban areas. Community gardens promote healthy communities and provide good, clean, nutritious food for gardeners of all incomes. Community gardens provide opportunities for physical activity and recreation. They can also promote environmental awareness and community education. Neighbors Garden will strengthen the Church’s bonds with its neighbors and the Galt Community.

Whats Next:

Beds are now available. Plots are approximately 8’ x 20’. Applications for plots are presently being accepted. Plots will be assigned based on the order of sign-up. Gardeners will be asked to pay a small annual fee for annual maintenance of the garden (waived in cases of hardship). Advisors will be available to assist any first-time gardeners, and tools will be available for use in the garden. 

Application:

Fill out the attached application form, sign the contract with $25 to reserve a bed. Then drop off or mail the application and contract to address below or drop them off at the mail slot on 6th Street on the side Galt UMC brick building. Business and Individual can support the community garden by supplying material, equipment or monetarily. All contributions are tax deductible. The garden is in need of lumber, piping and faucets to help get it started. If you can help please e-mail us at neighbors@galtumc.org
