Galt UMC Regular Outreach for 2017, 2018, 2019 and future years has been and will continue as below.  But GUMC also has an ‘inner’ outreach of many mighty prayers ambassadors who lift up prayers for our church members, our church, our community, our leaders, our first responders, for people near and in other parts of the US and overseas.  The Power of Prayer has impacted all of us and will impact all of you when you not only read daily His Word, but take time to listen and reflect.  Even hardships will turn into blessings later as we have learned first hand from medical situations, family situations, financial/job situations.  Prayer is positive thinking, not just wishing.  It is first hand communication with our Father, our Son and our Holy Spirit.
Throughout 2019, every second and fourth Thursday Galt UMC has opened its ministry doors to the community, meeting the needs of those who are food disadvantaged. Faye Gaines has directed an army of volunteers making it possible for 112,392 souls to receive food in 2019.
And we can’t forget the summer children’s ministry during food pantry days meeting the needs of many children who came with their parents.  Both Mariah and Mercedes kept them occupied with crafts, singing, readings, while moms and dads shopped for food.
In addition, just before Christmas week toys were given to 64 children! Remaining toys were given to a ministry that works with children throughout the year.
Faye Gaines shared, “We have averaged about 1,000 souls per month for food. We are blessed to be a blessing to those in need. Thank God for all the volunteers who help, and the gifts we have received to keep this wonderful ministry going.”
Thank you, Faye! Thank you volunteers! Thank you Galt UMC! You make heaven smile.

Also during 2019 we had the pleasure of assisting several personal outreaches:  our global missionary Katherine Parker living and working in Nepal and Tina Burns, a nurse working with Aids in Uganda and Waverly Trotter in India.  What wonderful work these three are doing in the world.  Here in Galt we were able to assist with The Advocacy for the Homeless by supplying personal hygiene kits to high school students who have no access to such items.

Outreach:  During the year Galt UMC has a chance to help in many outreach programs. Not only does the SunShine Pantry feeds many families in Galt every month; but we’ve made up health kits for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief); recognize our local emergency response teams in thanking them; clip ‘boxtops for education’ coupons for Valley Oaks School throughout the year; supply backpacks and school supplies for students at Valley Oaks School at the beginning of each school year; gather and send Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes through Samaritan Purse Organization to boys and girls around the world in November; participate in the Heifer Project in December; the Clean Water Program and Nets for Malaria foundation in the Spring.

                                                  Medication Plastic Bottles Mission Project
To support Matthew 25 Ministries a member of our church collects medication bottles to be used by doctors to dispense medications in poverty stricken areas around the world, mostly in third world countries where citizens walk to the doctor and carry their medications home wrapped in a piece of paper.  If you have bottles you’re no longer using, please drop off at GUMC (hours Tues-Wed-Thur 8-noon).  The only requirement is that the bottles and tops must be all plastic. Matthew 25 Ministries will also accept supplement bottles, over the counter medication bottles and prescription bottles.
