United Methodist Women
Galt United Methodist Women meet monthly with meetings or socials throughout the year.  We are a team of women who believe in the “Community” of praying, of service, of support, and being the hands and feet for our Lord.  Our unit’s president is God, our vice president is Jesus Christ and our CEO is the Holy Spirit.  Our program leaders are our members.  Please join us every third Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. at various locations.  Contact the church office for locations and more information or check the GUMC Calendar here on our website.
The Galt UMW are still meeting monthly via ‘zoom’ during the COVID 19 pandemic.  All are welcome to join us.  Email Margaret at margike@sbcglobal.net if you would like to be included in the ‘zoom’ invite.  The monthly donations can be mailed to Faye Gaines, address you will find in church directory or you can mail your check to the Galt UMC office, with memo line indicating UMW.  Thank you.
The Officers for 2020 UMW are:

A staircase of beautiful women celebrating the birth of Christ, December 2015.

Our last meeting/social/potluck for the year 2017.  These are amazing, beautiful women of God who give generously of themselves to everything they do.  Our outreach programs include sponsoring a World Vision young man, Thalbang; volunteering for our SonShine Food Pantry; supporting Valley Oaks School and the Mustard Seed School; making up Health Kits for UMCOR; supplying paper goods and new silverware for our kitchen/fellowship times; making and distributing Joy Boxes to those in need; raising our pledge to our Central Valley District; attending Annual Conference, CA-Nev training, Mission U’s, Celebration of Life; sponsoring church members for VIM trips; learning about and supporting with our prayers our CA-Nev missionaries; arranging meals for our shut ins or sick members; applying to and receiving a grant from Beulah Fund that will help our entire church during services and other outreaches; donating to our UMW Legacy Fund for 150 Years; having a work day at church and the office; and fasting, mediating, praying, devoting, listening to and for God directions. We firmly believe that God is our President; Jesus Christ is our Vice President, the Holy Spirit is our CEO and our members are the hands and feet of our Lord and we have a mission to do the best we can.  God is Good All the Time; All the Time God is Good.
2018 went by fast with all that UMW did for the church and for our community and world.  We lost several of our members to the Heavenly choir during the year andhosted memorial services for Doris, Anita, Leona, Glenda, RayLane, Jeanne and Ylita.  We were able to pass out carnations to our mothers on Mother’s Day; listen to Durlynn present a program on her latest book; learned more about the recent changes to the CA recycling program by Leesa; made up 25 Joy Boxes, went with Rosie on a trip to Israel via a slide show; attended Mission , Assembly 2018, and Conference Celebration of Life.  We requested a grant from the Beulah Fund to update our sound and media system in both the sanctuary and fellowship hall.  That was completed in October. We also purchased teaspoons and a metal shelf for the church’s kitchen; donated over 300 Box Tops for Education to Valley Oaks School; and supported the UMW 150 Legacy Fund, plus served on several committees and helped in various outreaches within the church and community.  Come join us for 2019 and serve the Lord.
We are half way finished with 2019 and the UMW has participated in monthly meetings focusing on how we can be more involved. Rosie, Mariah and Mercedes attended Mission University in August.  Rosie is one of the program leaders, also.  The 150th Legacy Pledge and our District Pledge has been met and sent in. Praying for one another, supporting our ill with cards, food and phone calls has been a tremendous asset to the body of Christ. Helping with the monthly food pantry (Sunshine Pantry),  the 5th Sunday fellowship set up and clean up; continue helping with old prescription bottle outreach and the Box Tops for Education.
